A woman is being raped every 16 minutes in India. Such information came out in a report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
Not only that, every five minutes a house wife violence victim and every two hour a woman's rape efforts are happening in different states of India.
According to the NCRB report, women in the country are most likely to be raped in the age group of 18 to 30 years. Uttar Pradesh is at the top of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency in torture of women and children.
Apart from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and West Bengal reported the highest number of incidents of violence against women and children, the NCRB said.
In the case of women and children, the NCRB collected information on the first rape related to the murder.
According to the report,33885 women were raped in the country in 2017. Of these, 221 were murdered after rape. The Indian Penal Code and the Puxo Act have registered a total of 28,152 child rape cases. 151 of them were murdered.
In the cyber crime against women, the NCRB has documented 4242 offenses, where women were stocked, blackmailed, or their morphed pictures uploaded to the Internet.
In the cyber crime subdivision against women committed under special and local law, the number of female-centered crimes is 600 Of these, 271 are for the purpose of publishing sexually explicit material under the Information Technology Act.
This year's report links sexual harassment to public transport and the workplace. 479 reports of sexual harassment in the workplace and 599 cases of sexual harassment in public transport were reported in this report.
This year, 33,606 cases have been registered against minors and 40,420 have been arrested. The NCRB has said that most of the minors who violated the law in different cases are 16-18 years old. Out of 40,420 cases, minors of this age group accounted for 29,414 cases (72.2 percent).
